Johnson Controls Industrial Refrigeration provides highly efficient industrial freezing, cooling, and air handling systems for various specific production and storage processes across different industries. Additionally, Johnson Controls Industrial Refrigeration supplies large industrial heat pumps that help our customers in their energy transition. We offer complete packages from A to Z: we conduct the study and design, take responsibility for project management and installation, and finally provide the necessary After Sales Service and Remote Control services. Moreover, Johnson Controls can rely on the expertise of its own brands such as YORK, SABROE, and FRICK. Within the IREF installation department, located in Gorinchem, we are looking for a driven Process Engineer. What you will do As a Process Engineer, you are responsible for designing the functional design for industrial refrigeration systems and heat pumps. The functional design is the detailed basis for creating PLC control, whether it is made internally or externally. You ensure that our solutions perform optimally for our customers. You are the link between the pre-engineering department, which makes the initial setup of the functional design, and the post-engineering department, which delivers the complete engineering package. You are part of the project engineering team and provide support to both our pre-engineers on the sales side and our Project Engineers, Electrical Engineers, and Automation Engineers. You work on projects for our renowned customers worldwide. How you will do it Analyze the project; in collaboration with the pre-engineering department, an analysis is made, and the best process solution is selected. Develop a detailed functional design to achieve the maximum performance of the offered system. Align the design with the customer's wishes and specifications for a well-functioning basic design (including customer part). Provide advice on P&IDs, considering the design and maximum performance. Make customers aware of technical possibilities, especially in expansion projects, and provide advice to our customers for future improvements. Support the translation of the functional design into P&ID, electrical design, and automation. Evaluate the developed PLC standard blocks (not the writing/structure, but the technical operation). Support software acceptance (internally and also with suppliers). Work closely with our Electrical Engineers and Automation Engineers who follow up on the electrical and software installation. Guide colleagues during commissioning activities (knowledge transfer). Manage project administration, correspondence, and meetings with customers, sales, project managers, and IT managers. Create functional descriptions and document projects. What we are looking for You have a technical education, Master or Bachelor in electromechanics/automation, or you have an equivalent level through relevant experience. You have at least 3 years of relevant experience in a similar position. You have specialist knowledge of refrigeration technology and heat pumps. You have extensive experience with process technology and can deliver a functional design in detail. Experience with project follow-up in the food, pharmaceutical, chemical, and/or steel industry is a plus. You are independent, punctual, organized, and stress-resistant, with good communication skills. You are assertive, flexible, creative, and motivated. You take initiative and are a team player. What we offer A very challenging position at an international organization with advanced technical and energy-saving developments, applications, and systems.
